I'm Parm Bains, your Liberal MP for Steveston – Richmond East

Thank you for welcoming me to your doorsteps and allowing me to share my passion for serving our community in Steveston – Richmond East.

As a lifelong Richmond resident, I have listened to and continue to hear from residents on how there are a number of challenges they see emerging.

In my role as the Vice Chair with the Richmond Community Foundation, I witnessed the tremendous effort organizations make in our community, but I also saw gaps in support that they need to provide their services.

As a university instructor, I hear from young people in my classroom, and they are concerned about how affordable life will be in the future.

Quite simply, I want people to enjoy their lives. The only way Canadians can enjoy their lives is if they have the necessary support and services.

I grew up in the Shellmont area of Richmond. I still live in the same neighbourhood with my wife and two children.

I spent most of my childhood on the soccer pitch at South Arm Park – where I coach more than I play these days.

Professionally, I served as a Public Relations Officer with the BC Government, and I spent over 14 years working on public policy issues. I gained extensive knowledge and developed my skills in fostering relationships between all levels of government and community.

Over the years, I became really determined to search for ideas and work towards finding solutions to build a community we can all enjoy living in.

What I want to focus on is making sure the next generation can live in a healthy community environment like I did growing up. Better is always possible. I am Parm Bains, and I am your local voice for Steveston – Richmond East. Sincerely, Parm Bains
